“Preparing Your Loved Ones” Series: Guardians & Minor’s/Spendthrift Trustee
May 24 @ 11:30 am - 12:30 pm CDT
If you have minor children, there may be no more important legacy-planning decision than naming guardians for them in case of your death or incapacity. Deciding who will parent your child(ren) in the event that you can’t can be a tough and emotional process, but it’s essential to ensuring that your children thrive even if you can’t be there for them.
Naming a trustee for a Minor’s Trust or Spendthrift Trust—set up for the benefit of your heirs—can also be significant, because this person will be able to make decisions about how to best utilize your assets for the care and wellbeing of your heirs.
Both of these roles are significant undertakings, and they can seem overwhelming. So we’ve put together a free, one-hour webinar to give an overview of basic estate lingo and what it means to be named a guardian or trustee. We’ll go over the differences between these terms, the basic responsibilities of each one, and how an estate and/or probate process typically works. We’ll leave you with some resources and places to look if you get stuck along the way…even if you never end up taking on one of these roles.
This will be a helpful session for anyone who’s been named a guardian or trustee in a legacy plan…or anyone who just wants to learn more about what these roles are about!
Hosted by the Apex team and a panel of local legal, healthcare, and family services professionals.
